Seamless vs ERW — Choosing the Right Route
Seamless pipe has no longitudinal weld seam, which makes it the usual choice for higher-pressure, cyclic-load or critical service, since there is no weld line to act as a potential weak point. ERW pipe is manufactured by rolling and resistance-welding plate or coil into a tube, which brings the cost down and works well for general process, structural and lower-pressure piping. Fully welded pipe from Sailesh Metal Corporation, where required, is backed by 100% X-ray radiography of the weld seam to confirm weld integrity before dispatch.
Seamless Pipe
Produced without a weld seam, suitable for high-pressure and critical applications where a uniform wall and consistent mechanical properties matter most.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between seamless and ERW stainless steel pipe?
Seamless pipe is produced without a weld seam and is generally preferred for high-pressure or critical service. ERW pipe is formed and resistance-welded from coil or plate, offering a more economical option for general and structural piping.
Which grade should I choose for chloride-heavy environments?
316 and 316L, with their molybdenum content, offer better resistance to chloride pitting and crevice corrosion than 304/304L. For more aggressive chloride exposure, 317L or 904L may be considered.
Do you supply pipe with 100% radiography-tested welds?
Yes, welded pipe can be supplied with 100% X-ray radiography testing of the weld seam on request.
What documentation is provided with pipe supply?
EN 10204 3.1 Mill Test Certificates, chemical and mechanical test reports, PMI reports and third-party inspection reports can be provided, subject to order terms.
Can you supply pipe in non-standard shapes?
Yes, in addition to round pipe we supply square, rectangular, hexagonal and hydraulic shapes, subject to size and grade availability.
