Buttweld Fittings
Buttweld fittings are welded end-to-end into the pipeline, so they carry the same wall thickness and schedule as the connecting pipe, and are well suited to high-pressure, large-bore and cyclic-service piping. Socketweld and threaded fittings are forged rather than welded from plate, and are the standard choice for smaller-bore piping where a socket or threaded connection is simpler to fabricate on site than a full buttweld joint.
